The Texas Association for Hispanic Dance and Culture (TAHDC) was founded in July 2003 in answer to the educational and cultural needs of the Texas Hispanic community.
The specific purposes of this 501 c 3 corporation shall be to create a bridge between audiences, educators, artists, dancers, musicians, media, and other non-profit organizations for the preservation, dissemination and evolvement of Hispanic dance and culture in Texas. |
Vision
Produce Folklorico College Day USA connecting
students to college through dance, culture and friendship.
Disseminate information regarding master classes, workshops, performances, competition and festivals through Blast Emails and Website Calendar.
Internet Accessibility- Free one page website for TAHDC folklórico, mariachi and other artist members that do not have a website of their own. Publish links to other groups and organizations.
Produce performance venues, (concerts, festivals, and competitions) allowing Hispanic dance groups, artists, and mariachis an opportunity to showcase their talents in a professional setting.
Provide network opportunities to develop strategic relationships, provide communication regarding arts legislation allowing members to take affirmative action.
Nurture the bicultural artistic development of Hispanic dancers by promoting and providing master classes,
workshops, and allowing dancers the opportunity to
study ballet, modern and other forms of dance.
Provide staff development to school districts increasing public school teachers’ knowledge of folklórico and other forms of Hispanic dance.
Encourage academic achievement and school involvement among Hispanic youth through providing educational support to extra-curricular folklórico and salsa dance school clubs.
Provide specialized training to artists and teachers who work with youth from low socio economic neighborhoods.
Advocate for Fine Arts Education and for the inclusion of folklórico and other forms of Hispanic dance within the curriculum of dance studies from elementary to the university level.
Encourage academic research by creating an online library.
Support folklórico maestros through the directories and sales of products.
Grant scholarships to deserving students to help further their education in the areas of dance, music, art and culture.
