The Texas Association for Hispanic Dance and Culture (TAHDC) was founded in July 2003 in answer to the educational and cultural needs of the Texas Hispanic community.
The specific purposes of this 501 c 3 corporation shall be to create a bridge between audiences, educators, artists, dancers, musicians, media, and other non-profit organizations for the preservation, dissemination and evolvement of Hispanic dance and culture in Texas. |
Mission is to assist folklorico organizations in achieving greater success in the development of repertoire,technique, curriculum, pedagogy, and strategic planning.

The workshop is designed for student and adults leaders who participate in a folklorico organization or who would like to establish a folklorico program.
If your school would like to start a folklorico program
The workshop offers five days of intensive training for teachers/sponsors and student leaders interested in founding a folklorico community or public school program. Curriculum, technique and repertoire appropriate for beginners pre-kinder to high school will be presented. Strategies for meeting the challenges of founding a program, as well as the necessary support skills will be addressed in the Leadership Forum. Topics address will include forming a booster club or non-profit, how to write a press release, vertical teaming, community building and fund raising. Previous experience not required.
If you are an established organization
The workshop offers five days of intensive training for teachers/sponsors and student leaders in advanced repertoire, advanced dance technique, curriculum, pedagogy, performance/projection, program development, strategic planning, and marketing. Support skills will also include building a booster club or non-profit, how to write a press release, vertical teaming, community building and fund raising. Information on careers in dance education k-16 will also be presented.

Motel 6 Southwest, 4220 Independence (972-296-3331) offers the lowest room rates with the fees for the 3rd and 4th person waived in double rooms. On the evening of April 1st the room rate will be 35.99 plus tax. On April 2nd and 3rd the room rate will be 39.99 plus tax. Every year all the rooms are filled. If you plan to attend and take advantage of Motel 6 room rates book early. 4.3 miles
Motel 6 Duncanville, 202 Jellison (972-296-0345) best price is the price on their website www.motel6.com. When we checked prices on August 1st prices ranged from 41.99 to 44.99 plus tax for two queen beds. Children under 17 years of age stay free when accompanied by a family member. 3.9 miles
Ramada Inn Duncanville, 711 E. Camp Wisdom Road (972-298-8911) Room rate is $ 59 per night double occupancy, each additional adult is $10. Children under seventeen accompanied by an adult stay free. 4.1 miles
Most hotels will give you a discount for the fourth person in a room if you are reserving several rooms.
For those of you wishing to research additional options: Mountain View College, 4849 West Illinois Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75211 is located off of Loop 12 between Highway 20 and Highway 30 in southwest Dallas. We are close to Grand Prairie, Irving and Duncanville.
